Meet another of our 4D Fit friends, Amanda Leaveck. Amanda is the founder of Science & Magic, which offers a science-based approach to mindfulness through virtual courses, yoga, and meditation. Amanda shares how she applies her knowledge of neuroscience, fitness, creativity, and the cycles of nature to be and do her best, and how she empowers others to do the same. (Keep up the great work, Amanda—and thank you for sharing!)

Q: What goal(s) are you striving to achieve?

A: I am in the process of scaling my business to reach beyond Minnesota. I recently onboarded a team of six contributors to provide monthly content for my Science & Magic Virtual Subscription program. The team is from all over — San Francisco, Spain, Minnesota, etc. I am also working 1:1 with client from Los Angeles. I am thrilled at this natural expansion of my business and my career!

Q: How do you practice mental fitness to support your goal(s)?

A: I consciously practice gratitude and appreciation as often as possible. The heart is more than just an organ, it's a powerful energy center — 90% of the neural pathways between the heart and the brain are ascending, meaning that they feed from the heart up to the brain. Practicing positive emotions has been scientifically proven to create more coherent heart rhythm patterns, which in turn feed coherent signals to our nervous system and positively affects our entire body.

Q: What helps you BE your best?

A: Sleep, structured water, gratitude rampages, creativity, healthy relationships, and moving my body!

Q: What helps you DO your best?

A: Same as above—how I AM correlates directly to how I DO.

Q: How do you stay motivated?

A: Every morning and evening, I sit in front of my altar and connect to Spirit (even if it's only for a few minutes). I surrender all control to an intelligence that is greater than my ego. I invite my guides, ancestors, and a higher power to work through me so that I may be of service to this planet.

Q: What advice would you give someone striving to be and do their best?

A: Absorb yourself completely in the present moment. Our brains so often get hijacked by 'what ifs' and 'just in cases' and 'but this happened to me.' Every time we practice a thought, it becomes more engrained in our neural pathways, more a part of our perspective and the way we think. If we spend the majority of our days lost in predetermined thought patterns, beliefs, and anticipations, we can never level-up to the magnificence of our dreams. If we learn to soak into the miracle that is right now, we can start to more consciously choose our reality on a moment-to-moment basis.
